Topic Overview: Confined Space Entry and Rescue deaths continue to occur in Industry today. Sixty percent of these deaths occur from those who attempt to perform the rescue of the entrant(s). This two-hour session will provide a topical overview to safety, health, & environmental professionals on the importance of having confined space entry and rescue plans, understanding the hazards associated with confined spaces, working in confined spaces, and first responder rescue. The session will include vertical and horizontal practical evolutions where the participant will enter and perform entry and first responder rescue in a confined space safety-training trailer. IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICAL EVOLUTION: PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR/BRING: Hard hat, leather gloves, safety glasses, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, and long pants.
A graduate of Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health management in 1987. Started as a Loss Prevention Representative with large Multi-state and Multi-line business insurance industry from 1987 to 1992. Moved into private manufacturing of paper products for the private label market for grocery stores. Joined Perdue in 1995. Worked as a safety supervisor in three slaughter operations from Georgetown, DE, Dothan AL & Milford, DE. Promoted into my corporate safety position in 2001. Currently, has responsibility over two divisions of operation encompassing about 8,000 Perdue Associates. Obtained CSP certification in 2006.
A graduate of WVU Institute of Technology with a A.S. in Nursing in 1995. A graduate of James Madison University with a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health management in 2005. Thirty-one years of experience in the field of Occupational Health, Safety, and Motor Carrier Safety. Currently employed as a Corporate Divisional Safety Manager, which supports 2 of the 9 Divisions. Thirty-one years experience as a volunteer in the Fire and Rescue Service. Daryl is a member of the Hardy County, WV CERT.
