Speaker:  Kyle McCarthy (United Rentals – Trench Safety)

Bio:   Kyle McCarthy is currently a Trench Safety Specialist in the Northern VA area with United Rentals. He has been working in the construction rental industry for the last 9 years where has consulted with several large multi-billion dollar contractors as a subject matter expert for their project specific trench and excavation shoring needs. He is a certified to instruct Competent Person Training for Trenching & Excavation, Confined Space Entry and an OSHA Outreach Trainer.

Abstract:    Over the past several months, there have been a rash of serious trenching and excavation related incidents throughout the construction industry. Mr. McCarthy will be reviewing the causes and lessons learned from these incidents.

Additionally, there will be a discussion focused around real-world solutions that can be implemented for these incidents and other trenching and excavation challenges (both common and unique) throughout the industry.
